Dear Nettleton Middle School Parent and Student:

I hope that everyone has had a great summer and are rested and ready to begin a new adventure as the 2014-2015 school year begins. I am looking forward to a wonderful year. This letter contains important information as you prepare for the beginning of school.

The goal of the Nettleton School District is to provide the best education possible to all students by preparing them to be both college and career ready. We are proud to announce that the Nettleton 1:1 Technology Initiative, which will be implemented this year in grades 6-9, provides students with the technology tools to begin this preparation. The Nettleton School District has the opportunity to offer students a MacBook Air to help actively engage students in their learning.

Nettleton Middle School will issue a MacBook Air to students in grades 6-9 upon compliance with the following:

· Mandatory Parent/Guardian Orientation Meeting session during Open House

· Completion of Student Orientation Training Session

· Submission of signed Student Acceptable Use of Technology Agreement

· Submission of signed Student/Parent MacBook Agreement

Students may also rent lockers and purchase agenda books during the first week of school.  Cost for rental and agenda book will be $10.00 and cash may be sent with your student.  Lockers will be assigned according to 6th period class, which is the last one of the day to help with hallway traffic and transition.

Sixth grade students and parents are invited to Open House on Thursday, August 14th from 6:00-7:30 pm.  Students will be able to get their schedules, meet teachers and pick up supply lists for classes.  Benchmark results will be issued at this time.  We will have stations set up so students can take care of depositing money into lunch accounts and find out what bus they ride.

School begins on Monday, August 18th.  The school day begins at 7:50. WALKERS and BUS RIDERS are dismissed at 2:45 with CAR RIDERS leaving at 3:00.  Please check out our website at for more information as we approach the opening of school.

The back of this letter contains information on traffic pattern and student drop-off and pick up.  Please look over it carefully before the first day to make sure you are aware of the procedure since this is a new school for everyone.

Also, NMS will be sharing information on Facebook and Twitter.  I hope these will help keep you informed about the great things going on at NMS.  Just use your smartphone to scan the QR codes on the back of this letter and connect to NMS on Facebook, Twitter, and our website!  If you prefer texts, then text @allp to (630) 733-1822 to receive text notifications of upcoming events.
