Nettleton Junior High Exemption Policy

The following exemption policy will be in place for Spring semester tests at NJHS:

  • Exemptions will be based on grades and attendance.
    • A student with an “A” average may have no more than four (4) absences.
    • A student with a “B” average may have no more than three (3) absences.
    • A student with a “C” average may have no more than two (2) absences.

  • Students will be exempt on a class by class basis with the following exceptions:
    • A student with more than three disciplinary referrals in a semester will not be exempt from any semester test.
    • A student who has been suspended or who has served in-school suspension or Saturday School will not be exempt from any semester tests.

  • Students may be exempt from Spring semester tests only.

  • The office will determine number of absences, not the individual teacher. The office will generate an official list of students with four, three, and two days of absences.

  • A student who qualifies for exemption but chooses to take semester tests, cannot have his/her grade lowered by the tests.
  • All teachers will participate in the exemption program.

Early Testing

There will be no early testing for either semester.  If students are absent for a semester exam, they will be required to take the test on the scheduled make up days or upon returning to school or during the summer.
