The Nettleton School District is located in Craighead County, Arkansas, in the central portion of the county. It is in the city limits of Jonesboro, a city of 55,515 population. The district covers 42 square miles and is bordered by the districts of Jonesboro, Brookland, Bay-Brown, and Valley View.

Nettleton Central Elementary is located at 2305 Promise Lane. Central was opened as a new K-4 building at the beginning of the 1998 school year. There was a six-room addition begun in 1999. During the 2004-05 school year the school was reconfigured as a K-3 building and the new multipurpose building with gym, music room and stage was completed.

Currently, the student population at Central Elementary School consists of 280 students of which 46%  are Caucasian, 42%  are African American, and 12%  are Hispanic. The student body is 55% male and 45% female.

Nettleton Central Elementary School has 26 certified personnel and 7 classified staff members. There is 1 principal, 15 regular education teachers, 2 special education teachers, 1 speech pathologist, 1 media specialist, 2 Title I teachers, 1 counselor, .4 social worker, .5 music teacher, .5 art teacher, .5 gifted & talented teacher, 2 secretaries and 1 LPN. Additionally, we have 2.5 custodial staff members, and 4 cafeterias workers. An integral part of our staff is the full time Family Center Director and staff. Our building also provides housing for the ABC pre-school program sponsored by Arkansas State University.
